Not only is Taka-O San Clemente’s first Japanese Restaurant and Sushi bar but the first to be established in Southern Orange County as well. Taka-O owners Roger and Kelly Sugano have been satisfying customers’ palates for the last 30 years and have created an atmosphere at the sushi bar that is as much social as it is culinary. Community service is not a new concept for Taka-O as it is known for being involved in community fund raisers, donating to local charity events and sponsoring a wide variety of youth programs.
Once you’ve been greeted by the Samurai Warrior at the front door you will have your choice to be seated in the traditional Japanese dining room or your choice of two “western style” sushi bars. The additional full service sushi bar upstairs accommodates customers as well as private parties. Popular with the beach crowd you may find local and professional surfers frequenting the sushi bar. You may also meet many tourists stopping in to try some of the amazing, specials the sushi chefs have create. A number one choice is the “Oh No Roll”, which is topped with their infamous tataki sauce. Taka-O also offers a full variety of traditional Japanese cuisine on the lunch and dinner menu.

On request, customers can order our organic wheat-free Tamari soy sauce. This soy sauce is certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI). Organic Tamari is made with 100% soybeans and no wheat. Organic Tamari contains one-eighth the sodium as one teaspoon of salt. It is certified gluten-free by the Gluten-Free Certification Organization.
